FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
Twenty one years
ago, after hearing a particularly good teaching on the prophecy of Daniel, I
said to myself, that if this teaching was correct, then the trail of history
recorded in the prophecy had to lead to into the present day, because time
didn’t stop in that land, and the prophecy goes on past the present day.
That was the day
that I became an Eschatologist, which is a person who studies the end time
prophecies.
First and
foremost is that the prophecy of Daniel is a prophesied history concerning 490
years in the life of the Jews and their holy city Jerusalem. (Dan.9:24)
From its onset,
it runs continuous in history for 483 years. Then a gap of time occurs, that to
this day is still open. We know there is a gap because the events occurring
during the final seven years have not yet occurred. Ergo, there are seven years
yet to come to fulfill the remainder of the events in the prophecy. Until that
begins, we are in the gap period of the prophecy. (Dan.9:27)
The prophecy
demonstrating this gap period is found in Revelation, which is a record of the
events that take place after the close of the gap period. (Rev.13 & 17)
In the prophecy,
John is asking his guide about the beast with seven heads and ten horns, and he
is told that they are seven kingdoms, and that five of them had already fallen,
and that one was and one was yet to come, and from that one would come the final
kingdom that would come against God Himself.
Two of the five
had already come and gone by the time Daniel is prophesying, Egypt and Assyria.
Then in Daniel we begin with number three, Babylon, four, Medo-Persia and number
five, Grecia. (Dan.2)
Rome was ruling
at the time John is writing, so Rome is number 6. Then, there is one yet to
come, which would be number seven, and out of it would come the eighth and final
kingdom.
Here is another
gap in time. Between the sixth and the seventh kingdoms on that land being
described in Daniel, as the great image of Nebuchadnezzar.
The great image
began with the head of gold, Babylon, number three in Revelation’s description.
Then the silver of the arms and shoulders identifies the Medo-Persians, number
four, the brass sides, the Grecians, five, and the legs of iron become the sixth
kingdom, Rome, leaving only the feet and toes, which are the next, or seventh
and eighth kingdoms of Revelation.
History shows
that the next Empire on that land, with its capital at Baghdad was the Moslem
Empire. So, after Rome, and during the gap period, the feet kingdom follows the
legs on that land, and out of the feet, the Moslem Empire, grows the toes, the
eighth and final kingdom that is later described as Antichrist’s kingdom. Note
that the toes do not grow out of the legs – Rome did not follow Rome in History
on that land!
And finally,
Nebuchadnezzar’s great image is destroyed when the everlasting Stone Kingdom
fall upon the Feet Kingdom. (Dan.2:37) The everlasting Stone Kingdom, being
God’s Kingdom, and when it comes, it will destroy that final outgrowth on the
land depicted as the great image, by destroying the feet on which it stood.
Then God’s Kingdom would grow into a great mountain and fill the whole earth.
That hasn’t happened yet! So, we are still in the gap period.
Now, that all
happens there, on that land, which began as Babylon and grew to become the
Mideast of today. So, it’s there that one must look to see these prophecies
fulfilled.
And since it’s
all about the Jews and Jerusalem, it all has to relate to them, and how they are
affected by what is happening with their neighbors who are the present day
occupiers of that land seen by Daniel as the Feet on the great image.
Daniel describes
the last seven years of the prophecy as beginning with the arrival of a king
whose people will eventually destroy the city.(Dan.9:26) But before that, he
confirms a peace between them for seven years.(Dan.9:27) The peace doesn’t
last, because at the midpoint he breaks the covenant he made, stops all
sacrifices, abominates the temple and kills the Jews.
Revelation has
this same peacemaker riding out onto the stage of history at the time the first
seal of the Great Tribulation is opened by Jesus in heaven. So, the Great
Tribulation begins with peace, not war. (Rev.6)
So, our search
on the stage of history for the events of the end times has to be a search for a
peace maker. A peacemaker, or deliverer of the Jews and Jerusalem, that
eventually turns into their false deliverer.
The origin of
the featured character in Daniels prophecy who turns out to be this false
deliverer who turns on the Jews is precisely described. The “little horn” comes
from the territory that was once the Seleucid portion of the Old Grecian Empire
that was subsequently conquered by Rome. (Dan.11-18-21)
That very
territory later became the Hashemite Kingdom, under the rule of Mohammed the
prophet of Allah, who founded the Moslem Empire. So, the ten kings that are the
ten toes on the Feet represent the area from which this “little horn”, who
becomes the false deliverer of the Jews originates.
Those once ruled
Roman lands became the Hashemite Kingdom in the Moslem Empire centuries after
Rome ruled, but still before the Stone Kingdom comes to destroy the feet. So
time wise, we are somewhere between the start of the Hashemite Kingdom and the
Stone Kingdom.
The Hashemite
Kingdom is passed as a hereditary kingdom from its founder through his heirs.
The founder was Mohammed the Prophet of Allah, and his heirs are his
descendants. Those descendents were the keepers of the holy shrines of the
Moslems from the beginning.
So, through the
centuries since the Hashemite Kingdom began, each person who becomes the
Hashemite king carries down through time the legacy that ends at the time when
he becomes the featured character in Daniels drama.
That is
precisely why we began to watch the development of the Hashemite King on the
stage of history twenty one years ago. If it was in our time that the end would
come, we would see the events as they developed because we were standing on the
trail left in history to that point on the path that had been laid out in the
great image of Daniel’s prophecy. Now we would observe the stage of history
from there forward and be witness to what happened from that viewpoint.
We knew that the
prophecy of Daniel had been sealed by God to be seen only in its
time.(Dan.12:4) Therefore in order for it to be the end time, we had to see the
events of the prophecy taking place on the stage of history. So, the watch
began when Egypt made peace with Israel, and strangely enough at the time, the
catalyst to the peace was the Hashemite king!
Thus began the
watch of this rising of the little horn of Daniel onto the stage of history.
Would history prove it to be this Hashemite king, in his time? Only time would
tell.
At that time,
what we knew had to come to pass was a move toward peace in the Mideast, and
that the peace had to include the Jews and Jerusalem and that it had to include
the Jews being able to sacrifice on temple mount again. (Dan.9:27)
It had to
involve the Hashemite king because he, as descendant of Mohammed, had the say on
Temple Mount in Jerusalem. So, we began to follow the yellow brick road to see
if that was going to happen in our lifetime.
What we soon saw
was that peace in the Mideast was not an easy thing to make happen, and the
effect that it had on the entire world.
We knew for
instance that peace could not come to the Mideast while Iran was such a fanatic
and held American hostages. We had to pass that time, and we did. Iran is now
considered moderate as compared to those early days of Ayatollah Khomeini. They
are moving toward the stance of waiting it out, and taking on the winners.
The biggest
thing of all was the fact that Scripture says that Russia is our friend in the
end times, so that wall had to come down, and lo and behold it did! Now Russia
is our partner in the fight against terrorism and bar-b-que buddies with the
president of America.
All during this
time the “little horn” had to be on the rise in the role of peace maker, and he
was. (Follow
the rise of the “little horn”)
Finally in
January of 1996, the headline of the Jerusalem Post read:
“Israelis hail Jordan’s King as Peacemaker!”
There it was.
Finally in print for the world to see. And a year later, the Israelis named him
the “Prince of Peace”. Here it was, coming together in my lifetime! Jordan
made peace with Israel!
But peace with
the Palestinians was elusive, and the King hung in there, but alas he got sick
and died. Was this going to be the end of it? Like the surprise ending to a
movie serial, Ariel Sharon visits the King at the Mayo Clinic, and the King rose
from his death bed, addressed the Wye peace conference, flew back to Jordan and
fired his brother, the reigning crown prince, and crowned his son Abdullah II,
who became the Hashemite King within the week. The forty third direct
descendant of the Prophet Mohammed to rule the Hashemite Kingdom.
The new king
vowed to carry on the work of his father’s lifetime, which was to see peace in
the Mideast, and Hashemite rule back in his rightful kingdom, Iraq.
For years the
Israelis and Palestinians have been at each others throats with little or no
positive results. Then, in October of 2000, the meeting of the 10 kings of
Daniel takes place at Sharam el Sheik in Egypt, and the vote is for peace among
all the countries except three. Exactly as called for in the prophecy!
Twenty one years
ago, we knew that the dissenters would have to be Iraq, Syria and Libya. Then,
they turn out to be the dissenters at the meeting at Sharam el Sheik.
Now all we
needed was something that would force the peace, and raise the “little horn”
Hashemite King into prominence and turn the world down the trail of ridding the
world of the dissenters to peace.
Lo and behold,
maniacal Islamic fanatics do the deed that sets not only the USA, but the world
down the trail to topple and replace, or “uproot” the terrorists and all those
governments who harbor and finance them.
Suddenly, with
that one
catastrophic event we turn the corner into the final days leading to the
completion of the prophecy.
But what of the
King? Is he rising to prominence? Is he fulfilling his destiny in this
prophecy? Is this really the time, and is he really the king that becomes the
false deliverer of the Jews.
Well, he is so
important today that the USA gave Jordan a free trade agreement. Only the
fourth ever to have this free ticket to trade with the largest free market in
the world. Then, he comes up with the “two basket” plan to bring peace to the
Mideast. And, lo and behold the world is signing on to it. Is peace in the
Mideast a reality that might happen in our life time?
From where I
sit, it sure looks like it, and the guy who brings it about, Daniel’s little
horn, is out doing his thing, fulfilling his destiny in the prophecy.
Show me any
other person on the planet who qualifies as the Hashemite king does to fulfill
the role as laid out in the prophecy. At this time in history, there simply
isn’t any one else who qualifies, or is acting in that role except him. This is
where you get when you follow the yellow brick road.
So, don’t tell
me it’s not him! Show me, with your long term, carefully recorded study who
your candidate is, and why.
Why is all this
important, and why do we care?
Because, Paul
taught the Church, that before that peace can happen, the covenant with the
Church will be ended with the Rapture.
Folks,
it just could not be made any more clear that this is the Prophecy of Daniel
spilling out onto the present day stage of history. And because it is, we are
in the final days leading to the coming end time of the Bible. Remember this
prophecy was sealed by God to be seen only in it’s time. (Dan.12:4)
And our
place in that time at this very moment is being followed by the news media, who
are the historians on the scene, reporting the events that lead to the
conclusion of the prelude at the opening of the first seal of Revelation 6.
Rejoice
you who are awake and see it! All we can do is to continue to watch and warn
those who don’t see it as yet.
Paul’s
command to us is to spread the joy of knowing our fate! I call it “shake and
wake your neighbor” It’s something we can all participate in. But first we need
to know and understand where to look, what to look for and why we are looking
there to find it.
